Animal welfare is a fundamental for all livestock keepers and consumers looking at natural fibres are starting to be much more concerned about where the product comes from and how the animals are raised. For decades the “Five Freedoms” model has been the gold standard in animal welfare but as our understanding of the subject has grown the recognition of factors beyond animal suffering have become more important. The Five Domains model reflects those advantages and includes the importance of human-animal interaction.
